Excitement in Burren Junction – A New Crossing and a Secure Pool Gate!

Excitement in Burren Junction – A New Crossing and a Secure Pool Gate!

Wednesday 28th October, 2026

It might not be quite as exciting as the Burren Junction Art Show, but there's certainly been something worth celebrating in town this week!

After years of waiting, the pedestrian crossing outside Burren Junction Public School has finally received some much-needed attention!

And this wasn't just a quick coat of white paint. The crossing has been renewed using thermoplastic road markings, a process where specially prepared white strips are laid onto the road and heated to bond them to the surface, providing a more durable and longer-lasting finish.

What a pleasant surprise to discover that the work crew consisted of three lovely women who were travelling home to Narrabri after working in Lightning Ridge.

Friday, 16th October, 2026

A positive and constructive meeting between Burren Junction residents, Walgett Shire Councillors and senior Council staff on Wednesday, 14 October has provided renewed encouragement for the community as it works towards improving local infrastructure, facilities and services.

The meeting, organised by Burren Progress Inc., brought together community representatives, Mayor Jason Ramien, Councillors and senior Council staff, including Acting General Manager Donna Ausling.

Before the meeting, Council representatives were taken on a bus tour of Burren Junction to see firsthand some of the infrastructure challenges facing the town, including the Sports Precinct, Bore Baths, airstrip and other community facilities.

Burren Progress Inc. welcomed the opportunity for Council representatives to see the issues for themselves and discuss practical solutions with residents.

Hydro excavation offers peace of mind to small business owners planning safe, clean, and controlled digging projects.

Hydro excavation is an increasingly popular alternative to traditional digging methods for small businesses undertaking site projects. By using pressurised water and vacuum technology, this non-destructive method exposes underground assets safely, avoiding damage to cables, pipes, and essential infrastructure. Whether installing signage, upgrading plumbing, or modifying outdoor areas, hydro excavation offers greater control, less mess, and fewer legal risks. Business owners benefit from faster project timelines, fewer insurance issues, and peace of mind—especially when working on older premises or congested sites.
